The Perfect Wisconsin Airbnb Wedding

We were on lake time, and not an ounce of stress or hurrying was had. Everything happened when it felt right; no clocks were consulted. This long awaited day FINALLY happened, in a massive Airbnb that was large enough to host the entire extended family for a weekend.

The bride and ladies got ready on the first floor in the largest, most beautiful bathroom any of us had ever seen; Mirrors everywhere, beautiful lighting, and a walk in closet with an island dresser that became useful for last minute dress alterations.

The bride shared, “This is the dress I bought 8 years ago when I thought the wedding was right around the corner. And then, one thing after another, it got delayed. So, this dress has been in my mom’s closet for 8 years. Every time I tried it on, I love it just as much as the day I bought it. And all these years later, it still fits!”

This day has been long anticipated by the entire family. So many emotions were in every face of the weekenders who witnessed the vows of two people they loved deeply, and loved seeing together. The bride had one request before she walked down the aisle. “Please don’t focus on me when I come out. I want you to get his reaction.”

A bonus was capturing the faces of the groomsmen in the same frame.

My favorite part of what I do? Gathering a deep understanding of the emotions that are going on behind the scenes, so that the moments captured are those that are most important to the couple, and I can appropriately seek out and capture raw emotions.

In this case, the bride and her siblings haven’t been together in the same room in over 7 years. This family reunion was beautiful to witness, and we took advantage of the opportunity to snag some much needed family photos.

Yet another highlight of this Airbnb wedding weekend was the pet-friendly space. Elle, the family dog, was so happy to be included in the wedding festivities, and found herself posing for several photo opps. She stuck very close to mom’s side (the bride), and even helped walk her down the aisle.
